”Face Faith"——A Two-hander, One-act Play

"Face Faith" was written in 2016. Although the plot and dialogue have hardly changed, over the years I have revised the gender settings of the characters in my mind multiple times—from two "women," to two "cisgender women," to "please do not 'assume' they are women," and finally to:

The gender and age of Face and Faith are not particularly important in this script. The main point is that the audience should easily recognize that both "Face" and "Faith" are drag personas, not just the actors or even the "characters" themselves.

This is a two-hander, one-act play. As the only two residents living on a "junk island" overrun with material possessions, Face and Faith can only get to know each other through conversation or attempt to manipulate each other.

The script itself lacks logic and plot. I prefer to describe it this way: it is a few pages of snapshots of Face and Faith's chaotic lives. I hope you, as the reader, will not be moved, but rather "infected."

Please do your best to dislike and criticize the interactions and language in "Face Faith." Ideally, treat it as a virus.

In 2024, I made slight revisions and translated "Face Faith" into English. You can read the full English text on The New Play Exchange® (NPX) (subscription required).

I hope you will "enjoy" it.
